Maxima Latvija plans to expand cooperation with local partners and procure additional products produced in Latvia worth more than 70 million Euro, at the same time lowering shelf prices in long term. The additional procurement will be sourced from from leading Latvian producers such as Balticovo, Latvijas Maiznieks, Putnu Fabrika Ķekava, Gaļas Nams Ādaži, Tukuma Piens, Food Union and many others. The additional local produce and goods will help lower prices for customers and slow inflation this year, whilst supporting vital local partners of the retail chain.
This unprecedented deal is part of the Sirsnīga izvēle and Super cena price reduction initiative which aims to permanently lower prices long-term on more than 1000 everyday basics, with discounts of up to 57% on both Latvian products and leading global brands. With this additional procurement, the volume of goods procured from specific local producers may increase several times over.
“Low prices for high quality goods is in our DNA, and we invest a significant amount every year in order to achieve this, both by increasing the efficiency of our operations and by targeting funds for this purpose. This year, we are celebrating 20 years in Latvia, and we will continue what we have started with fresh energy; thanks to our business partners, Latvian producers, we have closed our most ambitious deal which involves the procurement of additional goods worth 70 million Euro. Price reductions and collaboration with local producers are a way of promoting Latvia’s economic development, aiding the development of Latvian business, supporting local producers, and, most importantly, making high-quality products available to as much of the public as possible. We have selected which products will have their prices lowered by listening to our customers, ensuring that everyday favorites are available on our shelves at a lower price,” Edvīns Lakstīgala, Director of Procurement at Maxima Latvija, explains about this initiative.
The products available at significantly lower prices include various customer favorites in several categories: dairy, fresh and smoked meat, fish, seafood, eggs, bread and other categories. Most of the products are Latvian favorites: Putnu Fabrika Ķekava’s chicken meat sausages, Balticovo’s eggs, seeded bread from Latvijas Maiznieks, as well as various dairy products including Lakto’s fermented milk products, cottage cheese from Baltais, Rasa’s cream and other products.
Customers will also be able to purchase soft drinks and alcoholic beverages, toiletries and household products, as well as a range of other high-quality products at lower prices.
In addition to this year’s most extensive price reduction campaigns, Maxima has also developed a special fruit and vegetable offer: every week, stores will offer its top 5 fruit and vegetables at a lower price. Much of the produce covered by the offer will be locally-grown. The special fruit and vegetable offer will change weekly, to ensure that shoppers can regularly enjoy a variety of highest-quality produce.
