This week, Maxima launched an app enabling customers to pay for their purchases in store not just by card or cash, but also with their phone. This is the first app of its kind for grocery retail in Latvia. The new app will make shopping even more convenient, functionally becoming an everyday ally when shopping for groceries and household goods. The app can replace a Paldies loyalty card, freeing up space in customers’ wallets. Customers will now always have access to the card in their phone, giving them the option of seeing all Paldies loyalty program offers in one place, which will be available automatically to app users.
“Convenient, pleasant and secure shopping is one of our priorities, which is why, after months of development and testing, we are pleased to give our customers access to an app which will allow them to shop even more conveniently and carefully, while acting as a modern aid when making everyday purchases. The app will not only help when selecting basic necessities and accessing special offers, but it can also be used for payment and to avoid cash and the card terminal, with all functions being performed on the customer’s phone. This function is not only fast, but also extremely relevant during the COVID-19 pandemic,” explains Maxima Latvija CFO Valdis Zeps.
The Maxima app will allow people to stay on top of their expenditures, purchases and savings, and customers will easily be able to find their bearings by searching for their nearest store using GPS coordinates. Furthermore, new loyalty programme participants will also be able to apply for a virtual Paldies card for free and access all the benefits of the Paldies loyalty programme.
To make payments via the app, customers can link it with payment cards issued in Latvia. The maximum purchase sum is set at 150 Euro. When shopping at a Maxima store using the app, the user will have to scan a QR code at the self-service or traditional checkout and select their payment method.
The Maxima app is available to download from Google Play, App Store and Huawei AppGallery by searching “Maxima”.
