A special parking lot for athletes has been created

October 24, 2018

“Maxima Latvija” has created the first parking lot in Riga specifically for athletes, their families and everyone who is a fan of sports. The modern parking lot was designed by the “Ghetto Games” graffiti artist Mikelis Mūrnieks.

The first parking lot for athletes is located next to the “Maxima” store in Nīcgales Street 2, Riga. It was created as a part of celebration of the cooperation between “Maxima Latvija”, Latvian Athletics Association, and Latvian Hockey Federation which was concluded at the beginning of the year. It aims to promote the development of children's and youth sports in Latvia and to promote sport and its positive impact on the development and health of children. This year, “Maxima Latvija” has invested more than 200,000 euro to support children's and youth sports.

“We invite all athletes and all sports enthusiasts who purchase healthy and fresh groceries at our store to use this parking lot regardless of what type of sport they practice,” invites Jānis Vanags, Corporate Relations Manager of “Maxima Latvija”.

“As an athlete, I find this a very interesting and creative initiative that aims to promote and highlight the importance of active lifestyle. A parking lot for athletes, our families, and supporters is something completely new to Latvia,” remarks the triple jump athlete Elvijs Misāns.
