December 06, 2019

Yesterday, 5 December, marked the closing of Maxima Latvija’s and rehabilitation centre "Poga"’s joint charity,” Between a person and a good deed lies a single button”. The charity was held in all Maxima Latvija stores this autumn. In a month’s span EUR 20,985.00 was donated to child rehabilitation due to the active involvement of cooperation partners and customers.

A total of 26 companies from Latvia and other countries participated in the charity, donating from each product sold in any “Maxima” store in Latvia to help provide different therapeutic lessons in the rehabilitation centre “Poga”.

“In the three years since the opening of the rehabilitation centre Poga, rehabilitation has been provided for 523 children. 240 children have received rehabilitation due to the support of Maxima Latvija. The beginning of this year marked a new chapter in child rehabilitation - Poga received a new, spacious home, receiving a ceremonial donation of EUR 100,000 from Maxima Latvija to provide more modern rehabilitation for Latvian children, says Gundega Laugale, Director of Marketing for Maxima Latvija.

“It is easier to do good deeds together, so in the autumn this year we also invited our cooperation partners and customers to give a helping hand to ensure that our children can receive high quality rehabilitation here in Latvia. Therefore, I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the cooperation partners and customers who participated in this charity, because together we can achieve truly a lot”, says G. Laugale.

“Without the support of Maxima Latvia, many parents’ dreams of a healthy child would remain unfulfilled. The child patients in Poga are sincerely thankful to the companies and customers who participated in this charity. With these kind of charities we learn that our peers are not indifferent towards children with disabilities and their families. Thank you very much!” Head of Ziedot.lv Rūta Dimanta.
